Cody, as we call her, is my second Pyrenean bitch. The first beautiful girl Bunny lived to be nearly 14 years old and died in 1992. They have both displayed all the usual Pyr traits of endless barking, total independence, digging holes and wandering off in a world of their own if loose. They are very obedient at dog classes, on a lead, or in the house. Great guard dogs, excellent with the horses, and can be quite protective especially if tied up. When we had Cody, we lived on five acres in the South West of Western Australia. Cody would have her daily walks and excursions to the beach which she adores. If allowed to run loose she would just disapyr - that wouldn't be like a Pyr now would it? Cody was bred by Faye Cartledge in Wyong, New South Wales on the east coast of the country and we had her flown over at twelve weeks of age. Her sire is Despreaux Beau Jeste who in turn is by the U.K. sire Shanlimore Delect Able of Kingston out of the bitch CH: Despreaux Charday. Her dam is Despreaux Chanaie who was sired by CH:Pyrwest Destiny of Despreaux(Can) and out of Despreaux Misty. A mixture of Canadian and U.K. bloodlines are apparent in her breeding.

My name is Fuzzy and I became a little bit too adventurous one summer... An exciting looking utility was parked in our driveway, so I climbed into the tray at the back. There I was snoozing away and the car drove away with me in it. I tried to abandon ship - we were going pretty fast when I jumped, and I am a bit tubby so I did a fair bit of damage when I hit the road. Luckily, no one was coming along behind us or I might have been a flat cat! Well, I broke my leg and tore my cruciate ligaments. For the next six days I tried to drag myself home but it was slow going with one useless leg, a large dose of shock and temperatures in the high 30's (celcius) all week! My owners had been searching all over for me, and sometimes I could here them calling in the distance but I couldn't reply loud enough for them to hear me. I was sure I was going to die in the bush. Eventually I made it to the road and was lying in the ditch when along came the cavalry - Dr McGregor I presume? Well I've never been so glad to see anyone as I was to see the boss that day! He scooped me up out of the gutter and took me home. The next day he operated on my leg, put in the screws to hold it in place and made me a new cruciate ligament. It still hurt for a long time after that and my mum was very worried about me because I just couldn't use my leg; it just followed me everywhere. Now look at me a year later - playing the great white hunter!! Oh well only eight lives to go... Now October 2003 and Fuzzy is still going strong. The "Captain" of LochWind....it's hard going for an old girl keeping all these collies under control! My beautiful Captain Fuzzy passed away in her sleep on the 29th december 2006 and is buried with some of her collie friends here at LochWind. Luv ya Fuzz !
