Life before & after Collies - read more. I have bred LochWind Collies to be as close as I can get them to The STANDARD using as a guide The Illustrated Collie Standard book sold by the Collie Club of NSW. Illustrations leave little room for misinterpretation after all ! I only breed to suit myself, my life, and my sense of the beautiful collie. My collies must be able to move, as well as look at me like a collie, NOT a fox! At LochWind I pride myself on taking great care with genetic and health issues, for the long term good of the breed. "LochWind" the home of my "Rough Collies with Class", is situated in the coastal city of Bunbury, 200 kilometres south of our capital Perth. LochWind is located in the cooler South-West pastoral region of Western Australia. It is here, right near the Indian Ocean that I chose to established my kennels.
I was born in the UK with a Welsh father and Scottish born mother, I have always had a great love of and affinity with collies. ![]() Gail M Jones BHSAI. Since the early seventies I have owned a blue merle dog and a tricoloured bitch purely as companions. In 1996 I retired after fifteen years of professionally training gallopers. Then in 1997 I decided to purchase another collie, this time a sable and white male pup called Westlington Leica Legend CD AKA Nank. A series of events that year was to become the catalyst for our subsequent search for two quality bitches to become the foundation of LochWind Kennels. In December 1999 I finally imported two well credentialed bitches, bred by two pillar kennels in the USA. Now the new millenium will see me on a mission to breed quality, healthy, functional, "Collies with Class" for the future good of this magnificent breed.
MISSION STATEMENT Is quite simple I have four qualities that I refuse to compromise on. True collie type, health, soundness and temperament. That IS the foundation. I aim to breed dogs with these four qualities as well as maintaining the exquisite virtues for which this breed is renowned.
Currently I have only a token interest in horses in the form of a thoroughbred broodmare Federal Express who is by Grosvenor out of an In The Purple mare. Bred at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand she is the dam of three winners to date. Also retired on the property is Just Like Diamonds a good city winner who I bred, she has already produced two city winners.
